This policy update to the Code of Conduct requires members to use English while actively on duty at front stations or gate control to ensure consistent, and professional communication. The rule applies only during active workstation duties and does not restrict language use outside of work.
This policy aims to balance operational efficiency with cultural and personal expression.
This ensures clear and consistent communication during working activities and reduces misunderstandings.By establishing English Only as the working language while on duty, the White House maintains a professional and inclusive environment where all members can understand and participate equally. At the same time, it respects cultural and linguistic diversity by explicitly allowing members to use other languages outside of active workstation duties.
This requirement applies to all members only while actively engaged at work. Members are encouraged to provide courteous reminders if English is not being used during active duty. In cases of continued non-compliance, members will first receive a warning, followed by a strike in accordance with the existing procedures outlined in the Code of Conduct. The use of other languages outside active duty (front stations & gate control) remains unrestricted and supported.
